Inglis Point and Jex-Blake House

Inglis Point and Jex-Blake House were the first two residential buildings at Springside, a vast mixed-use development site on the eastern edge of the city centre. Built on the site of the former McEwan’s Brewery, the development includes a apartments, a hotel, student accommodation, shops, offices and public spaces.

The exclusive Inglis Point is a landmark building of fourteen apartments overlooking the West Approach Road, at the northern pedestrian access to Springside. These elegant apartments featured an extended ceiling height and large picture windows, evoking the bright, airy fell of Edinburgh’s grand Georgian houses but with a contemporary spin. This was most evident in the south facing, two storey penthouse, with its double height living room opening out onto a private terrace.

By contrast, Jex-Blake House provided a different proposition. It still had a superb penthouse and 10 two bedroom apartments, but at its heart were 33 affordable, one bedroom homes. These were designed to bring the quality of design and finish expected in an AMA home to a young professional market looking to live in the heart of the city.

In addition to private, communal gardens to the rear of Jex-Blake House, residents from both blocks benefited from secure, allocated underground parking.
